Indianapolis Hamfest 2018

Another great Indy Hamfest. Not as many outside flea market vendors as last year. The hamfest has been steady declining in the last few years. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed it! I sold most of what I took, including the AOL CD’s that I have been dragging to hamfests for years. I was convinced that someone might want 280 AOL CD’s for a collection. I entered my SB-40 QRP radio in the homebrew contest and won first prize. I am now the proud owner of an Edsyn 951SXe soldering station. (A $155 value).

Collinsville, IL Hamfest 2016

Murrell (W9ISP) and I traveled to the Collinsville, IL hamfest held on January 23. Its quite a drive, but we have made the trip for many years. Its the best hamfest within driving distance during the winter months. This year the hamfest was in a new venue. Well, not actually a new venue, but a larger section of the same building. As you can see, this is a large space, much larger than years past. There were vendors set up in the hallways outside also. Even with the larger space, the floor was VERY crowded at times. This was partly

Ft. Wayne IN Hamfest 2015

Murrell (W9ISP) and his son Austin, Kevin (K9HX) and I attended the Ft. Wayne Hamfest on November 14, 2015. This is an annual event for us, and the last hamfest we attend for the year. This year was a bit larger than last, which I’m glad to see. Years ago, this hamfest encompassed two floors of the Colosseum. It was the largest hamfest in Indiana. Over the years, it began to decline.  It went from two floors, to one floor, and then about four years ago, it was one half of one floor of the

Indianapolis Hamfest – 2015

I attended the Indianapolis Hamfest at the Marion County Fairgrounds on July 11th. I always sell stuff at this hamfest. I’ve had very good luck in the past with selling and with purchases. One of the main reasons I like this Hamfest is that I always see people that I haven’t seen in years, or at least since last year. This guy, Brian K9KIX, came by the booth to my surprise. I had held the call sign K9KIX for many years. It turns out Brian had the call sign for just three days prior to the Hamfest. He had wanted
